The predecessors of JTEKT were Koyo, founded in 1921, and Toyoda Kogyo, founded in 1941, which merged in January 2006 to create the new JTEKT, which produces and sells automotive steering and drive components, bearings and oil seals, and machine tools under the JTEKT brand. JTEKT is a manufacturer and distributor of automotive steering gears and drive components, bearings and oil seals, and machine tools.
At present, JTEKT has a total of 25 local enterprises in China, including: a company responsible for sales and business integration in China, 3 bearing production plants, 4 auto parts production plants, 1 machine tool manufacturing and sales company, 2 technology research and development centers, and 14 group companies, with a total of about 5,300 employees in China.
