Stainless steel balls are developed and enforced by standards, which include the composition, physical and chemical properties, mechanical properties of stainless steel balls, and their surface quality. According to the standards, the main material composition of stainless steel steel balls should include iron, chromium, nickel and other elements, of which the chromium content must be greater than 10.5%. At the same time, the standard of stainless steel steel ball surface finish, diameter error, gloss and so on also have detailed provisions. Only stainless steel balls that meet these standards can be recognized as qualified products.
Stainless steel ball really won't rust? In fact, stainless steel balls will not rust under normal conditions of use. This is because the chromium element in the stainless steel ball will react with the oxygen in the air to form a dense layer of chromium oxide film, preventing the further oxidation of iron, thus protecting the surface of the steel ball from corrosion. The thickness and quality of this chromium oxide film determines the corrosion resistance of stainless steel balls. Therefore, qualified stainless steel steel balls should ensure the uniformity and denseness of the chromium oxide film to ensure its long-term corrosion resistance.
Despite the excellent corrosion resistance of stainless steel balls, localized rusting may still occur in special environments, such as high temperature, humidity, or exposure to salt-containing substances. This is because these environments may damage the chromium oxide film or introduce some corrosive substances, thus affecting the corrosion resistance of stainless steel balls. Therefore, when using stainless steel balls in special environments, it is necessary to take protective measures, timely cleaning and maintenance.
